I think what “all” is trying to say is that the ticket revenue helps to offset some of the costs for the PD. If not for that revenue, they might have to raise taxes, instead. It’s better to have the criminals pay more for this extra revenue via tickets and fines — since they are part of the reason that these costs exist — than have law-abiding taxpayers pick up the costs that are currently covered by ticket revenue.[/quote]Right. The assumption is that PD will get the money they want one way or the other. The force is with them.

It’s really not about the indiviual, it’s more about the culture.
March 23, 2013 at 10:07 PM #760853NotCrankyParticipantParamount is 100% right. one example of thousands, I am sure, I had a cop who falsified his report in a crime against me to cover-up massive negligence or incompetence in his initial investigation. The lie was easy to demonstrate. There was no way he was ever going to let a court review that report and therefore my case was slammed shut. I wanted the case to go forward, but the “culture” beat me down every step of the way. His Supervisor verbally abused me. The DA’s office sent me to hell, basicallyThey did not care that the detective was incompetent and a gross liar, that he was being shielded from his actions, or what the consequences were to me and my family.
I also learned from that incident that when a large loss is taken in a crime the police are not concerned unless an insurance company paying for it could be potentially covered by the criminal. Which is pretty rare. If you or I are directly taking the hit, or if an insurance company can’t be saved…..forget it. That is as big a part of their investigation or bigger than the crime itself.
Funny that it used only be poor minorities who voiced these views of non faith in much justice. Now it’s Piggs.
