SUVs are also good for inadvertently crashing through parking barriers and plummeting three stories to land on the roof of your very heavy SUV (this also happened yesterday):

I doubt this would even be possible with a normal-sized passenger car.
Breeze,
you need to read what you post. The "SUV" was a fvcking RAV4. First wouldn't have nearly the ground clearance to drive over the fence, nor does it have anymore horsepower than a toyota camry. Nearly same engine spec. Try again.

May 6, 2008 at 11:47 PM #200142TheBreezeParticipantHmm. So let me get this straight. You have a surburban driven by probably a carjacker speeding away at the top speed, beyond it’s capabilities, crashing, and flipping..And this is somehow the fault of the vehicle???
How’s this one. Happened here in TorreyHighland…Riceboy tries to “drift” Honda civic doing 90+ miles, and civic gets cut into two pieces.
http://www.10news.com/news/15664196/detail.html?rss=sand&psp=news
I suppose from this, we can conclude civics are unsafe.
The main difference between SUVs and cars is that you have to do dumb things in a car to crash. SUVs are so unwieldy that a “normal” driver can lose control for no apparent reason (see the pedestrian-killer article above) or can crash through barricades that would stop a normal-sized car (see the parking garage incident above).
The government can’t regulate away stupidity in people. However, the government can regulate away (or at least heavily penalize with taxes) stupid vehicles (e.g., SUVs).

I assure you at least 50% of the folks in CA are unfit to be driving any vehicle. When in doubt, drive when it rains here. Germany does an excellant job regulating stupid drivers by making it more difficult and expensive to get a license.
