By the way, he is now changing the story. He is not wiping out his savings, only taking a healthy chunk out. And his stay-at-home wife is now described as a person who once commanded a $200K job offer.

More often then not I think people make postings soliciting thoughts hoping to find postive feedback that will reenforce the decision rather then the other way around. When responses come in that counter the outcome that the poster hoped for then usually other pieces of information come out that were either not included originally or maybe even counter the original post.
