GuestBest wishes to you, jp.
It sounds like you’ve looked at many types of properties from condos to houses in many zips.
You were not “in-love” with the house you bought but got it by happenstance. And the properties, you were in love with, you let got because they were too expensive. IMHO, the decisions made when “in love” are the worse decisions.
I also want to keep my options open and get the best value for my money. So I’m not just looking for condos downtown. I’m also looking at houses that could be remodels in several zips.
It’s a lot more limiting if you only look at certain houses in one zip.
Of course, having a significant-other who REALLY wants to buy can be added pressure.

ParticipantVery nice post tg. jp I detected that same… almost melancholy as well. I think what will be more challenging is moving forward. You put an immense amount of time into not just the search but to all of the work you do for short sale tracking and stuff like that. If that was to help find a home great, or if it was to help others, that is cool as well. I am a bit curious as to what the goals of all that time and energy spent were. So as you move forward in life, do you keep that up with the same rigor?
Anyways, I am positive you will continue to post and keep up with the Joneses. I have a feeling the peace that tg will slowly envelope you if you let it. With the cash you still have as rates move up think of it as opportunity instead of regretting what you have already acquired.

ParticipantIt’s liberating to buy immensely heavy things too. I bought several hundrd pounds of unwieldy used teak furniture that actually brings a large smole to my face whenever I use it. I would never have bought it for a rental for fear of having to move it. Plus I got a great cash deal probably 80 percent off retail or better. Go buy something really heavy.
I reaaly love everything teak, weathered teak.
