aerodynamics is not some new science invented to enable electric vehicles. i’m sure the builders of this thing know a thing or two about it. but i’m damn sure they don’t have the funding for countless hours in a windtunnel.
as well, i’m sure it’s all carbon fiber or glass composite. great stuff, outsource it to china and you could get the bodies made cheap. and the three wheel design is to reduce rolling resistance, i’m sure. but that’s all besides the point.
the average commuter drives what, less than 30 mi/day? 120 mile range is insufficient for road trips, not to mention the lack of cargo and passenger space. that thing is built for commuters and grocery getting, what’s the point of maxing out the gee gaw bullshit? it’s an exercise in stupidity, like the two wheel rover thing or electric carts that are only barely street legal.

… and that’s why we have CFD. BTW don’t underestimate how much funding they have. Building a production line capable of making even 2000 vehicles per year is neither easy nor cheap. They probably have eight figures in the bank.

People laughed at Prius when it arrived. Still do. But now obviously practical and clever Navigators and Expeditions languish on dealers’ parking lots and you need to get on the waiting list to buy a Prius.

June 10, 2008 at 5:53 AM #220780lostkittyParticipantWhat do you guys think of this company? I realize their cars might not fit the standard for everyone’s needs, but for someone like me – just running around town doing errands, it seems ideal.
They’ve even out their batteries into a PT Cruiser, so they arent sticking to the aerodynamic-no-side-mirrors, etc thing.June 10, 2008 at 5:53 AM #220879lostkittyParticipantWhat do you guys think of this company?
