Jiggling is not the problem. You focus too much on the superficial aesthetics. There are kids out there who are normal weight and eat junk most of the time. Maybe they won’t be hitting puberty early but they aren’t healthy either.
People should want to be healthy because it’s better for them and they’ll feel better. It shouldn’t be to LOOK better.
Having said that, people’s self esteem goes up when they think they look better. But if overweight becomes the new norm people won’t think it looks “bad” anymore; it will just be normal.

Cbad is right, it is really more central obesity and waistline. Some ethnicities have a propensity to put on weight around the waistline, those groups are more likely to develop obesity related problems earlier than even BMI would indicate.
as for the new norm. one has to realize that as whales become the dominate species in the ocean, they gradually got bigger and bigger because they had endless supply of food. and as the whales got bigger and bigger, their normal changed.
same thing with human. as we are now the dominate species on land and sea. we have all of the food we can consume and we will just keep eating and eating. we are programmed that way. and so we will gradually get bigger, and bigger, and bigger. and as we get bigger, our normal will change as well.
human beings are not special, we are just a group of animals that figured out how to change the environment around us to suit us. and as we have access to more food, we will just keep eating. this is how animals behave.

People will be more miserable and consume more Prozac. Good for Big Pharma and health care providers who will have an endless stream of patients/revenue…. Until our country goes bankrupt.
Social classes will be more segregrated between the fat and the thin.
