BTW, regarding Fair Housing laws, attorneys are not a protected class. As far as I know, you can discriminate against them all you like for being attorneys.

Q: What do you call a lawyer going over a cliff in a golf cart?
Ans: A good start

Doing business with Asians, will educate you on the phrase, that negotiations dont really start, until you have a SIGNED contract"
I think Henry Ford said it originally.
Ive personally seen this done by ALL nationality types, genders and ethnic groups..so don't take it personal if your ancestry is Asian.
Its underhanded and EXACTLY why we have 1 lawyer for every two people in this country…..We are a litigious society here in these United States…but we learned it from someone ?…didn't we ?
The "Great Magnet" or "Karma" will eventually spank these scoundrels….so I don't get too upset about it. Its just too bad that I'm not always there to see the deserved retribution. On the other hand…..If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make any noise ?….Hmmmm…..I sure hope so

May 25, 2007 at 11:53 AM #55016sdcellarParticipant23109VC– Is this your latest attempt to get a “good deal” on what you already convinced yourself was a “good deal”?
Where are you with that?

May 25, 2007 at 12:33 PM #55030temeculaguyParticipant23109 do you even have any contingencies? You weren’t selling another house, you qualify for the loan, you are buying the house you currently rent so there are no suprise defects. Depending how far into escrow you are, you may be risking more than your deposit and the seller in no idiot and works in the industry. I’d say you bought yourself a house. You made a decent deal of 25% off peak so you aren’t in too bad of shape but next year if you see the house you really wanted for less than you paid, blame your wife but don’t blame us, I can point to at least five threads of us trying to tell you to hold off at least untill the end of the summer.

May 25, 2007 at 1:56 PM #55044DuckParticipantIt would be tough to list all the people and all the hours that went into that transaction only to have you cancel for what? Greed? Is $25,000 the price for your good name (assuming you have a good name to begin with I guess)?
As a seller I would call your bluff and hope you cancel because I know that if you are that greedy, then there’s no way you’re walking away from the $5,000 plus the cost of your appraisal and home inspection. Plus there’s probably a spouse that will be really pissed at you. I also wouldn’t want a jerk like that moving into my house to begin with unless I really hated my former neighbors.
