Participant
My car is a ’94 which I purchased from a private party for cash in ’99. I just bought yet another set of tires (+ alignment) for it and fixed a longstanding transaxle leak. It’s ready to roll for another long road trip!!
That’s great bearishgurl! I’m sure you apply the same philosophy to other aspects of your financial life as well. People like you always have a financial cushion, and achieve financial independence while still young.
There’s nothing like the peace of mind of knowing that you go to work in the morning b/c you want to, not because you have to.

ParticipantThat “news” piece is just another message from the consumer culture that we live in. Basically, it puts forth that if you have money you should spend it. So, he doesn’t pay for pizza? Wow! That’s criminal! The article demonizes him for being “cheap.” (Though I would think that roof would pose some serious inconvenience–rain coming in, etc)
