Hehe…
I hate people using the term Engineer unless they qualify from the above. ITT does not count. You are a Technologist not an engineer.
And SDDuuuude is right. If you can use reference to get hired and not even have to look for a job your in the 20%. Thats how I meet SDDuuuude to begin with.
As for your skills sets… Again, if your the best and know one knows it… What is it worth (in terms of getting jobs)? It is only when you are recongized that it is a benefit and that is when you are in the 20%. Networking is everything in what I do and I am a fat (not big) fish in a little pond.
I suppose in programing it is Ocean…
My school was ranked 31st for engineering…
At least it wasnt from U of A… π
All I wanted to do was to learn how to blow the whistle on the train.

January 8, 2009 at 10:06 AM #325841ibjamesParticipantHa.. I can’t people get pissed over how the term engineer is used, the fact it there are several types of engineering. Technologist? Please..
In the higher levels of IT you have to know a lot about how things collaborate, hardware proficiencies, how software interacts with that hardware, how software interacts with each other. How machines/services interact with each other, data transfer methods etc. We also use tools, yes, not physical scopes and meters, but with other types of performance and data gathering tools.
Instead of engineering a chip or some other type of physical device we engineer full computing infrastructures. There isn’t a standard layout, this has to be dissected, planned, researched.
Technologist is someone that plays with computers, reads computer theory, and knows how to fix a printer.
I have never even met anyone with a degree from ITT. You guys have your underwear on WAY too tight

January 8, 2009 at 10:33 AM #325866fun4vnay2ParticipantGuys,
Before working as an IT professional, I was working as an embedded system programmer programming some microcontrollers and DSPs.
I do have MS in EE.
But then, I made a switch to IT for so many reasons and am very happy with the switch..
BTW: I work as an IT Infra Architect but I do love programming enterprise apps.January 8, 2009 at 10:33 AM #326205fun4vnay2ParticipantGuys,
