Help! What’s going on here?

I currently live in Pasadena. The old town area of Pasadena is a pretty cool scence. Lots of things to do. Hip scene for 20 somethings. But, I don’t see folks hanging around after their 20’s and trying to raise a family in the “hip urban” area of town.

20 somethings, for the most part, can’t afford $1mm lofts or even $500k lofts so their is nothing that could sustain sky high prices.

The builders continue to put up their hybrid (retail floor level, condo upper level) buildings, with many still under construction. I’m thinking this thing has got to crash along with the rest of it.

Asking doesn’t mean sold. Unless a bigger fool comes along, it will sit.

Pasadena is nice. The cops are jerks, but there are a decent number of good businesses, and Indymac. 🙂 It’s still over-priced, somewhat insulated because there aren’t too many places to build, but nothing is immune from the housing crash. It also has it’s ghetto areas too. Michael knows where I’m talking about.

I know a lot of young people in Pasadena too, but most leave when they start to have kids.

Arty – no, Azusa is an old Indian word for Canyon I believe.

I used to live at Castle Green in the heart of Old Town. My only mistake was to sell one year too early – left a lot of money on the table.

As far as house values, the cheapest I could find was 400k for a condo, which is absolutely insane. The crash has been moving slowly westward – started in MoVal, Norco, etc. Right now, the front is somewhere around Chino/Pomona/San Dimas and it has a strong wind behind it. Patience grasshopper.
