I’ve only ever had problems with that one house, otherwise the neighborhood is pretty quiet where I live.
Thankfully the tenants of that house have been spending a lot less time at home since the incident. I’ve contacted CWS and written a letter to the owner, so hopefully they’ll be gone soon.

Will pink fiberglass type insulation keep solar heat out of my garage? My door absolutely bakes in the sun and I am not able to paint it a lighter color

Except the thread is from 2010.
Per your question, I have found that in San Diego, a triple layer door (insulation as the center layer) does not help keep heat out.
In my last two homes, I’ve had west-facing garage doors. I put triple layer doors in my last house and I think the garage actually got hotter. My theory is that it helped hold the heat from the car engines in, though I can’t prove it. My current garage has a single layer door and it seems to me the garage stays cooler than my last home…with similar color garage doors.

I suggest a solar-powered fan up high to blow hot air out a vent opening. Make sure you have an intake that opens out to a shady spot to take in cool air. Put it on a differential thermostat that you can set to kick on when the temp is x degrees hotter in than out.
January 3, 2012 at 8:32 PM #735367moneymakerParticipantI would like to amend my post. Find the owner using propertyshark.com write them a letter detailing the illegal drug deals going on and let them know you are sending a carbon copy to the police. That they may lose their investment if said activity continues. If the owner knows there is drug dealing going on and they do nothing about it they could be forced to forfeit their property as part of drug seizure laws. I would bet money that they will be evicting said tenants promptly.

January 4, 2012 at 9:17 AM #735392JazzmanParticipant
I’ve spoken to several of my neighbors and we are in agreement that we need to get together and take action. I’ll be going to the County clerk’s office on Monday in order to find out who owns the house, and then we’re all going to write letters to the owner until something happens.
Thankfully the residents of the house left shortly after the incident and haven’t come back yet. I’m hoping they never come back.
I called Child Welfare Services today and made a complaint. Several of my other neighbors have done the same.
Moving is really out of the question. I actually like the neighborhood and have never had any problems aside from that one house. I’m not going to let one neighbor send me packing.
Most sensible course of action I’ve read so far. Looks like you have a handle on it if all your neighbors are in agreement. I’ve had young criminals turn very vindictive when police got involved. Our local drug dealer is friendly thankfully. The nightmare is someone who seems incapable of fixing his car alarm, and yesterday issued a veiled threat to my wife if she continued to lambast him. If you move into a better neighborhood, it doesn’t mean your problems end.
