This thread has become fodder for the angry, bitter and entitled. I’m sorry, but entitled is what I call it when you think that just by virtue of the appendage that hangs between your legs, you can bully your wife and control all matters concerning finances.

Now, if it’s a joint decision on who handles the finances/ investments between two people in a loving relationship, I see nothing wrong with that. Mutual respect and collaboration is the only way to go.

My approach? Well that’s sort of a combination of my personality and me on two cups of coffee. Deal with it.

The responses are telling. Tg’s responses are pretty much a confirmation. He was nice enough to open up. I enjoyed reading about Svelte’s arrangment, I see what he and his wife have as being a healthy and mutually enjoyable relationship. The way they handle their finances is a pretty good way to go about it, I think.

For those of you who don’t like this thread, why not take Rich’s suggestion and just don’t read it. I think the only thing remotely ridiculous is my approach, which is kinda tongue-in-cheek. I see nothing wrong with the underlying points of discussion.

Marion, It seems unrealistic to think people are going to talk openly in a PUBLIC forum like this, especially men to a unknown woman, about private matters of a significant relationship. Normal boundaries in a relationship don’t provide for going around blabbing about significant details publicly. You are getting a sample that has nothing to do with the reality of the majority of the men on this blog because most just keep their mouths shut on the topic, not just to you, but in general. The question is permissable as Rich so graciously allows for our missteps but it is bizarre in the context of this blog IMO.
