“arraya”
The faster we see those things (ie.. gas lines and maybe even expensive electricity) , the faster we will get to a real solution. Call me naive but I still have faith in America, , I believe we can do this, we can be energy self sufficient , we can be using clean energy, we can make reliable, clean , cheap electric car’s , we will develop mass transit, maybe not tomorrow, but we will do it and the faster we get there the better off everyone will be.
And yes we can feed the world !!
We will get there …

Alternative fuel research is becoming fasionable and being funded heavily, like drug or tech research of the past decade but without the risk of side effects resulting in lawsuits, it will be the next fun stocks to play and we will see the technology explode in this decade. If gas went to $10 next week, we’d be done with imported oil by christmas. This is a blessing in disguise.
To completely simplify it, the technology of creating solar energy harnessing “paint” is what I predict will win. Ultimately the paint on the car will power it and a clear product painted on the roof of your house will power it. Nothing to install, no retrofit, no risk of electocution, nothing ugly to look at, think thompson’s water seal meets duracell. Every $1 rise in the price of gas increases the potential profit of the company that wins the race. The Austrailians, Chinese, Japanese and Israeli’s have all made breakthoughs recently with major corporate backing, not just university or government funds. Sony and Sharp have entered the fray but my money is on unshaven, long haired, dope smoking geniuses from our home state, buy an ipod and you’ll understand my blind faith in the home team.

That is a great way to look at it. I feel the same. Who said this was a doom-and-gloom site?
