ParticipantI only have experience along the 15 in Rancho Bernardo (Vista Del Lago). Saw a wonderful place right up against the freeway. Opened the window in the Master Bedroom and could barely hear myself think. Dear goodness, NO!!
I thought hearing major street traffic along Poway Road and Pomerado was bad.
Higher up = prettier views = less absorption of noise
But really there is a varying amount of concern based on the specific situation. From my experience along the 15 freeway, I would say that it is definitely a deal breaker. However, I have no idea how your potential place compares to where I was in terms of dB. You did state that you are two blocks away, I would think that the noise would be minimal at that point if you are facing the right way.
Personally I would like the option to open my windows, sit in my patio/balcony, BBQ outside without being constantly attacked by urban music.

ParticipantThat’s where I owned – in Mira Lago more exactly. Was the place in Bernardo Ridge? The noise from I-15 wasn’t bad in my unit – near “battle mountain”, up the hill on Cmto Pasadero. That is, for the complex, opposite direction from I-15, so I think exact location matters. You could still hear it in the yard, but was really white noise, it certainly didn’t bother my sleep or enjoying the peace of my patio. certainly not a deal breaker at all. I’ve checked out something backing into Pomerado & Poway Rd too, terrible, though!
