Unfortunately, what we lack here are the overwhelming number of cultural opportunities, emphasis on intellectualism, depth and open-mindedness that seems to exist in plentiful supply on the east coast. I hope I’m not offending anyone; obviously, it’s a gross generalization, and does not apply to most people on this site. Sorry if I did offend, but that’s just my anecdotal observation.
I concur with this. SD probably never will get to the same level of cultural opportunities, emphasis on intellectualism, etc like NY. But if it does, it probably wouldn’t feel like SD anymore. I love the laid back atmosphere of SD and hate the hustle and bustle of NY. Also, if you’re like me and hate rain, snow, and humidity, your options are pretty limited.September 8, 2009 at 6:07 PM #454579anParticipant
What about emphasis on concrete, trash, concrete, trash, and no vision of the sky because of all the skyscrapers. What about thugs, gangbangers, traffic, crime? No thanks, I will take “lack of intellectualism” any day.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the most potent smell of urine permeating most of the city. Lovely.
