Long sigh…
The GSEs are miserable failures. I guess to some people more government involvement seems to be the stock answer to everything. Well maybe you will get that.
Perhaps the better answer is no government involvement. No GSE, No FHA, nothing at all. VA I am okay with because veterans have given more to this country then anybody.
Perhaps maybe, just a tad bit, that the government has a small, teeny tiny role in “suggesting” that banks lend to people who had no business buying a home. Perhaps that may have been one of many factors contributing to the problems to begin with.

Yes, the student loan system was government run for a long time until it was privatized then it’s now back to being government run again.
A student loan is non-dischargeable.
We should have government subsidies as part of the budget, or NONE AT ALL.
The Mikey Mouse obfuscation schemes of incentives are simply giveaways to industry who lobby. Those schemes never turn-out well. GSEs, FHA, etc… were just schemes to get money to the housing industries under the guise of helping people.
SD Realtor, I’d bet the CAR and NAR feel differently than you do about government involvement.
