Essentially the federal government is subsidizing every loan transaction…..which means that sale prices are substantially higher than they would be in a free market.
Yes it is very expensive and yes it is inherently unstable to monkey around like this.
Can it work? Yes it can work until it doesn’t.
Agency paper fedemption will be honored so long as a larger amount of agency paper can be reissued (Ponzi scheme.)
