LOL….BF is an early 1970’s model…said he is a “pinto” because of exploding rear end. Says I am a “volvo”–reliable, dependable, and just keeps ticking. Something to be said for dem older models….
That was funny. I might be a pinto to in that case, but not compact enough. I probably never made it to the market place…way too dangerous.September 28, 2010 at 8:57 AM #610080NotCrankyParticipant
LOL….BF is an early 1970’s model…said he is a “pinto” because of exploding rear end. Well, Shadowfax, That all depends on whom you ask. I’d like to think I’m one of these (click for larger):
[img_assist|nid=13965|title=
“Already vetted”|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=100|height=75]Though some might think I’m one of these:
[img_assist|nid=13966|title=
“Roadster”|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=211]Or even one of these:
[img_assist|nid=13967|title=
“Classy Lady”|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=152]. . . except for the fact that I’ve always fit nicely in just one parking meter space . . . lol. I’ve had the good fortune of having been well maintained throughout life and always garaged so have managed to come thru the trenches with everything still working.
When I think back to my younger days, I found it easier to borrow that which I lusted for, take it for a spin in the mountains . . . and then give it back with a full tank and sometimes even an oil change! It was just more economical for me that way. Being the feminist that I was, I guess I thought, “Why buy the milk when you can get the cow for free??”
Here are a couple of 5-speed models I very much enjoyed driving on hilly terrain back in the day but never actually owned (click for larger):
[img_assist|nid=13968|title=
“Turned on a Dime”|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=100|height=68][img_assist|nid=13969|title=
“Lotta Leg Room”|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=250|height=187]The blue one even dressed up its front tires in chains for me once and we went for a “spin” in the snow . . . just had just an AWESOME time that day! ;=)
