Excellent question – short answer, this bill will not help anyone except the insurance companies. In that respect it will be the same as all of our other legislation, its only benefit will be to the most well-connected, largest corporations.
[/quote]The bill will benefit some people but the insurance companies will get most of the benefit.
It’s still a step in the right direction.
Defeating the bill and providing a victory to the Republicans will embolden them. It’s very stupid for voters on the left to let Republicans such as Scott Brown win elections.
If we want universal health care we need to work at it step by step. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in one day.

ParticipantYes if the cost issue is “fixed”($10 band aids), then the health care system will be a lot healthier, pun intended. Then everything will work itself out. Until then the financial rape of individuals/companies will just pass to the government. I believe the auto repair industry in CA was “reformed” many years ago by forcing mechanics(just substitue doctor here for a fix)to quote prices upfront and in writing. Without upfront cost knowledge(think dinner menu) there is no competition.

GuestWe all agree that America can afford and should provide universal health care to its citizens like any other advanced nation.
So what’s your solution threadkiller? Keep the status quo and leave 50 million Americans uninsured?
Honestly, I’d rather my money went to health care than to the banks and wars.
We spend more than other “socialist” countries in health care but we are getting less benefit. Obviously, our market approach is not working.
