Last I heard even though Obama wasn’t proposing to tax your health care benefits taxing them wasn’t off the table and he wasn’t going to oppose it either. The benefit is what candidate Obama refer to as “the largest tax middle-class tax increase in history.” Of course it’s going to pass the gov is in desperate need of a new source of revenue.
Obama wants to tax Cadillac plans… luxury medical plans for executives.
I don’t see a problem with taxing medical benefits. They are part of compensation so they should be taxed like salary. Makes sense to me.

No insurance company will sell them a policy for any amount of money given their health history. Their only option is to work for an employer that has a group healthcare plan. Hopefully they will be able to work until they qualify for medicare. Not everyone is so lucky.
If they get laid off, they will have to pick-up the cost of their insurance out of pocket [COBRA] for up to 18 months (likely $1,000/mo for a family of 3) after which they are SOL.
If a company goes bankrupt and there is no health insurance, then there is no COBRA. Tough luck. Again SOL.
With the changing economy and more turnover in the workforce, there will be more people falling in the cracks. More SOL.
