Few weeks ago, my friend from other country came to visit me in SD. It was the first time to bring my friend to pick the strawberry in Carlsbad. That farm is famous. I saw some people picked a lot and left, so we just followed. The cost was only paying the box. It didn’t count how many lbs you picked.
When we left, the guy from the farm stopped us and said we picked too much. He asked us to pay extra $5. We refused and told him to take the strawberry out. That fat strong guy refused to take them out and he just wanted money. We told him we saw other people did the same thing too. Then he said he did asked them to pay too. It was just a trap! If he doesn’t want people to pick too much, he should count on the weight. I went to other farms before and they stated to pay per lbs. It was fair if they stated it clearly.
This farm owner knows this happens a lot but he never changes his rule and make the trap. He didn’t allow us to leave if we didn’t pay extra. $5 is not money but I didn’t want to ruin my friend’s vacation to call police. I am sure I am not the only one fall in this trap. I just want to speak out and let other people know about it.
