I am going to escrow for a house in CV too.
I know that maybe it is not the best time to buy. But there will never be a “best time”.
I trust sky is not falling, and I should enjoy living in NOW.
Just do it!
I’d never advise someone to try to buy at the best time, but I’d definitely suggest they hold off during a bad time. Right now certainly seems like an uncertain time at best.
Curious what home ownership has to do with enjoying living in the now?
If you have the means, then by all means, but as always, I’d recommend avoiding compromise and stretching your limits.

In the last few years our family anual income is over Obama’s standard for “rich”. But we rented condos which cost 1/5th of our monthly income. We were anxious about what if we couldn’t sustain our current income in the future? I feel miserable.
But I am feeling happy now with the house in the view.

in 2003. 42″ plasma TV costs $5000. I am not buying it, my regular TV still works fine for me.
in 2006. It costs $1600. I finally bought it and it improves my life quality significantly.
Now, it costs only $1000. But I don’t regret that I bought it 3 years ago. I enjoyed it for the last 3 years.October 15, 2009 at 11:34 AM #469601IT.MOMParticipantCurious what home ownership has to do with enjoying living in the now?

I have to say I’m confused by your concern about sustainability of income paired with buying a house to stem that. Unless you’re talking about paying (mostly) cash, that is. If you’ve been saving all that up while you’ve been renting, then good for you!
