I’ve been very very frustrated with the government’s meddling, and don’t know if they’ll ever let up. We’re extremely close to throwing in the towel and instead biting the bullet. I resolved not to stretch too thin to buy a house, but now we’re at the brink of signing a contract. It’s a dream house in terms of size, floor plan, and location, which is the only reason we’re pulling the trigger. I wish I could say we got a great price, but I think it’s only fair or good at ~$224 per sq ft ( a big house).
We’ll be paying almost half of my income (single income family) a month towards mortgage and will have zero cash left. If it weren’t for the mello rous, the loan is actually quite affordable to us, but with the extra $1000 tax a month it’ll be tight.
Curious to see how many Piggs will take the bait?

October 14, 2009 at 7:50 AM #468552scaredyclassicParticipantim getting nervous thinking about your purchase. that doesn’t mean you should get nervous. but a nervous person might get nervous. I guess if I were paying 1/2 of my 300,000 a year income, it wouldn’t be as life-altering as paying half of a 100,000 salary. abstractly i like to believe im a contrarian, but i have no idea what the contrarian view is in terms to housing purchases. Maybe you’re running with the herd, maybe youre boldly taking a contrarian position. maybe none of it matters. except location. being properly situated is worth a lot.
