ParticipantInteresting, is the Congress going to reject it? Pelosi:
“Congress will respond to the financial markets crisis by taking action this week in a bipartisan manner that will protect the taxpayers’ interests. The Administration’s $700 billion proposal does not include the necessary safeguards. Democrats believe a responsible solution should include independent oversight, protections for homeowners and constraints on excessive executive compensation.
“We will not simply hand over a $700 billion blank check to Wall Street and hope for a better outcome. Democrats will act responsibly to insulate Main Street from Wall Street.
Them be fighting words. This should be an interesting battle…

ParticipantThank God there is somewhat of a check and balance, let’s hope the dem.’s aren’t strong armed into thinking that’s what the majority of voters want…but it’s the first time in my life where I feel we need to be uniting in a strong voice this week. We need to let our leaders know that there is STRONG opposition to a BLANKET Bailout!
Anyone heard of protests or such?!?!?
I’m so fed up with all this monopoly money game…that’s what I feel they think this is, like 700 billion isn’t much. I’m also sick of feeling like we are the only financially responsible/ethical people left!

ParticipantIn response to Karl Denniger’s petition;
I read through the first 3 pages…I think that he has great information, however I don’t think he’ll get them to read past the first page. First he should be starting with explaining what he wants from them. Then very CLEAR AND CONCISE reasoning for why…this should be on one page only! I definitely don’t believe he should start with accusations (not saying they don’t deserve this), but would you read past the first page if all it was doing was accusing you? This is supposed to start opening their eyes to what’s REALLY going on and get them to listen…I just don’t feel it is the best way to go about it….
Does anyone else have any online petitions to post?September 21, 2008 at 10:29 PM #274021cashflow
