What is a cracked foundation? I have some cracks running thru in the garage… is this what you would call a cracked foundation?
That sounds really horrible now that I asked.
One of the issues is whether there are pipes in the slab. Cracks in a slab where there are pipe runs is a big mess. (Can break the pipes.)
Another issue is whether it is knocking the building out of true… cracked slabs can lead to cracks in walls and ceilings.
Some small cracks in a garage slab *can* be just cosmetic… since you likely wouldn’t worry about minor moisture infiltration through the slab in a garage. (No carpet, etc., typically)

It’s not even pennies on the dollar, it’s small fractions of a penny on the dollar, and the inspection report contains information that potentially could make a huge impact on your understanding of the true value of the thing you’re about to buy. Things like: is the slab cracked, are the floor joists rotting away, is there evidence of black mold, is the electrical panel a fire hazard, is the construction, shoddy, was the plumbing made with that infamous exploding plastic pipe, etc.
