DataAgent
ParticipantBefore you shop for a buyer’s agent, I would make a list of what you expect the agent to do for you. Possible duties could be:
1. Find you a good neighborhood.
2. Locate the perfect house.
3. Take you on weekend housing tours.
4. Explain all your mortgage options.
5. Negotiate the lowest price.
6. Wade thru the short sale maze.
7. Deal with new home builders.
8. Show you REO properties.
9. Help you get a mortgage.
10. etc.I’m a do-it-yourself kind of guy. I’ve bought many houses in the past and used the Internet to find my current house. I didn’t need a lot of hand-holding.
The best buyer’s agent for you depends on the help you need.

ParticipantDataAgent’s list describes the basic services provided by an agent, and good topics of discussion with any realtor you might be considering.
To find the right realtor, include the question, “What do you do that other agents don’t, or I can’t do myself?”
Their answer should tell you a lot about their ability to help you.

ParticipantOnce you find the area you want from Redfin, why don’t you pull up the latest sales and find the ones that you think were good deals – maybe you can use the agents who’s involved in those transactions?
