Here’s an idea.
Draft legislation that foreclosed properties have to be auctioned within a month, for whatever price the market will bear.
That should find the bottom right quick like.
People wonder why prices aren’t falling, its because the damn banks are sitting on all the damn properties!

August 28, 2007 at 8:34 AM #82091SD RealtorParticipantOC Scam perhaps we should provide you with food and free healthcare as well.
I highly do not agree with legal squatting at all. Perhaps everyone in your neighborhood should go ahead and stop paying their mortgage or rent.
It is always easiest to blame the enabler. This is not an argument in defense of the lenders as they did plenty of stupid things.
I do not think that the single mom with two children had a gun to her head when she signed the loan docs at the lender. I do not believe that she read all of the loan documents herself to really understand the loan that she was getting into.
So it sounds like it was everybody elses fault for the situation this single mom found herself in. Thus she feels justified, dare I even say ENTITLED to squat. Meanwhile those who were diligent and have not overextended themselves, those who showed restraint, continued to rent, to PAY their rent, and do not squat on property that they should never have purchased in the first place.

August 28, 2007 at 8:44 AM #82119SD RealtorParticipantI posted a thread after seeing a story on Fox news that the city of Chula Vista has drafted legislation to fine lenders that own foreclosed homes up to $1000 bones a day if they let the homes fall to blight. Not a bad thought…
I like kewps idea better although I don’t think it would ever happen.

August 28, 2007 at 10:07 AM #82161The OC ScamParticipantI haven’t stopped paying rent I pay it to my savings account!
There is no one else to give my money to. Maybe I should donate it? Anyone have a cause? Should I continue pay rent to a girl (I say girl because she is 20 years old) who bought 7 homes without a job and no assets she is a NINJA. She has declared bankruptcy! I offered to the bank but they will not call me back.
You suggest I just move out let the home sit and let the grass go brown, let my neighbors cuts the grass and the hedges, let the vandals, drug addicts and homeless move in (Wait I’m homeless?)I think the neighbors would love for their property values to continue to decline ever more than it has and will?
Have you ever heard of rent skimmers?? I signed a one year lease. The owner never paid one mortgage payment! I was paying rent to the owner until the Default notices started coming in. I will get my one year either way!! The owner broke my contract and I’m entitled to the full year just ask my lawyer!
Thank You.
