if i bought a house for about $200,000; I wouldn’t worry a bit. but at $500,000. I worry. why cannot life be worry free
Life will never be worry free.
If you are prone to worry, then all that happens when you resolve or avoid one worry is that it will be replaced with another of your own invention.
Been there, done that.
Also, are you talking $200K or $500K house price or mortgage? I assume you are talking mortgage.
A $500K mortgage is still under $3K a month p&i. Seems to me that shouldn’t be too difficult for a lawyer (if my memory is serving me correctly as to your profession). Why worry about that? You can barely RENT a nice home for that.

Property taxes are ridiculous. My daughter’s property taxes are nearly $4000 a year for a house valued at $150k.
No income tax in Texas. Would you rather pay ‘ridiculous’ property taxes or 9.3% income tax?

January 25, 2010 at 1:33 PM #505476anParticipantFor 200k, you have to make sacrifice. Some people can sacrifice weather while other can sacrifice commute time, while other can sacrifice house/lot size. What are you willing to sacrifice? My favorite saying is, beggar can’t be chooser.
