Agree 100% that we are seeing better inventory in the 800 to 1M range. Thats were some of the better deals lie. The difference between a 775K home and 825K home around here can be huge. Above 850K the deals get even better.
FWIW I dont see much of the $1M+ inventory under $800K now. The price compression we have all been expecting is defintely occuring in NCC. If you can spend more than $800K you have alot less competition.

As to that particular area, I think that’s where the purported “cancer cluster” is (someone who knows better, please correct me if I’m wrong). FWIW, that is really going to affect how well that area does in the future. Also, while I *love* older areas, that area is a bit run-down, and the houses and yards are not as well maintained as other, more desirable neighborhoods.[/quote]That’s a link to the maps they have on their site. I can’t say I understand it fully since I personally don’t see one cluster, more like several different areas that may or may not be considered clusters. But if I understood SDR’s polygon correctly, there are some cases there it seems around CHS and the Catholic school, but it doesn’t seem to be the most worrisome area.

June 24, 2010 at 5:06 PM #570948CA renterParticipantThat map certainly makes it look like there are some pretty significant clusters.
It would be good to see it categorized a bit differently:
-one color for children who’ve been diagnosed with cancer in the past 10 years
-one color for children who were diagnosed with cancer 10-25 years ago (with a way to see it adjusted for population)
-one color for adults who’ve been diagnosed within the past 10 years
-one color for adults who were diagnosed 10-25 years ago (adjusted for population changes, somehow?)
It would be nice to see it divided even further by ages of adults. Lots of retirees move here to live along the coast. A 70 year-old getting cancer (especially one who moved here from somewhere else) doesn’t signal as much to me as much as a child who was born and raised here who got cancer before 20 years old. That definitely sets off alarms, IMHO.
