I love your sense of humor. 90s tract palaces is right. Updated with the Tuscan Ironworks and crown moldings
You may end up living in one, you know

Why don’t you consider viewing this listing?

is that… el cajon? gee i’m not sure i’d fit in there, i don’t hang fake testicles from the back of my pickup. do you think they’d embrace me, even still?
Uhh, yuhtey, I think you’re getting this area mixed up with Santee … or Temecula. Folks around 92019 typically drive luxury cars and SUVs. Yes, it has an EC zip code, but it’s actually County. Very “upscale” with room to roam and excellent public schools!
I was only trying to help. That home was on ONE FLAT ACRE with a VIEW and basically needed just landscaping. I haven’t checked the current sold comps around there but I feel it will likely go for the mid-high $800’s. You don’t even have to install the landscaping yourself. There are plenty of reasonable peeps around there who can not only install it for you, but come back 2-4 times per month to maintain it for you. Ask the neighbors. They will most certainly know. They’ve all got someone. If you’re “real” with them and not putting on airs or cracking El Cajon jokes, they just might “embrace you” and try to help you.
You can’t have it both ways, dude. Will it be red … or blue for you? Do you actually believe the north coastal area is mostly red? Is it?? What size lot do you think you will get up there? 6K? 7K? For ~$1M?? Didn’t you state that you didn’t want to view anymore “cardboard” or “particle board” tract homes? If that’s the case, then why would you look in north county coast in your price range?? Ha, ha … do you actually think you’re going to snag a “custom home” along the SD North County Coast with “authentic” finishes in your price range?? And, oh, I forgot. You don’t want a “small” home, either. Oh, and some north county coastal cities WILL be more than 19 miles from your job making your daily commute a clusterfuck on the ONE aging and narrow freeway they have going for them. We have a fitting expression for it on this forum. It’s called “gridlocked Nirvana.”
GOOD LUCK to you, yuhtey and I hope you’re not driving your agent mad. You need him/her more then they need you, lol ….
December 3, 2015 at 10:08 PM #791807flyerParticipantPlenty of people in CV really enjoy living there, and can easily afford it, but if it seems like garbage to you, I’d definitely look elsewhere.
No one should buy a home they don’t love. I can’t imagine doing that. That would be just plain stupide.
We lived in CV before moving to RSF, and still have rentals there. In fact, all three of our kids started school there, until we decided to go private, and it was a great experience.

i like the idea of going cheaper, fixing up, and then doing private school. if only i had any patience.
update: plenty of garbage coming online in CV. or, if you prefer, there are some more “90’s tract palaces” getting listed. my lord, doth reach one’s arm out thine window and touch thy neighbor’s 90’s cardboard home.
i get the feeling Le Bourgeois in CV are in for some price reductions if they want to move product. must be a slow month for the chai knee buya
Do you want to vent your opinions or actually get info? My sense is that you are frustrated that you can’t get what you want where you want it.

It’s a price thing. and its about 90 minutes not 3 hours.
Uhh, shoveler … I just finished checking the Altamont Corridor Express webpages:
The train takes 2 hours, 12 minutes to get from Stockton to San Jose and vice versa. And it has nine quick stops and NO STOP LIGHTS and NO TRAFFIC JAMS to contend with. So the trip HAS to take ~3 hours in a car.
http://www.acerail.com/Getting-You-There/Maps-Stations/Stockton
A rider has four chances to catch it in the am in Stockton and four chances to catch it going home in the evening. If they want to come and go at any other part of the day or run some errands at lunchtime, they are SOL.
It costs a SV worker who lives in Stockton $345.75 for a monthly pass! $345.75!! WTF!
http://www.acerail.com/Getting-You-There/Timetable-and-Fare-Chart/train-schedule
I can get all the way to flyover country and back for a little less than that … using mid-grade gas. That’s a 3500+ mile round trip, folks.
WOW … ’nuff said. Hope your worker-bee “friends” who moved out to Farmville are having a nice life!

I like Carmel Valley haters. I wish there was more of them, so more people would GTFO so I could buy a bigger place at a more reasonable price. Like I said before, must be too many walls and lizards. And any day now, I’m sure there will be 40-50% price correction just like nay-sayers predicted would happen back in 2008-9…Oh wait, never mind….
SD Realtor, remember that townhome Crest Del Mar that was sold around $620k back in 2005-6? One almost identical to it just closed at $645k recently. Yup, even condos are selling above peak.
I’m use to paying a lot for a stucco box. In the bay area, you pay a lot for a really old house that the builder didn’t even bother to finish with stucco, and left it looking like unfinished wood panels, at $600+ a square foot.
So please, just ignore the seasoned professionals in this area, the convenience factor, the schools, etc. You’re right. It’s expensive and overpriced to live here, and probably not something you really want to do.
Your kids will grow up to be weak and sensitive, especially since the school district implemented recess rules like no playing tag during lunch, no football, no full court basketball, no stealing the basketball in a game, two hands on parallel bars, no sitting on the grass, no cart wheels on the grass, no handstands, etc, etc, etc. Because obviously, kids will get hurt.
And you don’t want to be pestered all the time with donating to the DMSEF or the PTA…Donate this, donate that, donate this… Or you don’t want to get so fed up with it that you end up living in Carmel V and send your kids to private school like in LJ Country Day or Bishop M, like many people do.
And we really dont want any more snotty people in this area. There are already enough snotty, pretentious people in this area, and we don’t like competition to see who can be even more snotty and pretentious. You know, the difference between us old money versus a lot of the “new money” that we just don’t get. We like conformance. We like our “old money” families of doctors, lawyers, dentists, and engineers with a boatload or stock options that can enjoy the rest of their lives “resting and vesting”. Why? Because we enjoy seeing doctors/lawyers/vested stock option holders trying to one-up each other into seeing just how high people are willing to bid up home prices. And now, with 3 out of 5 buyers being asian in this area, it brings “one-uping” to an entirely new level. For your first $1million, bring cash or go home. Anything else above that, yeah sure, take out mortgage.
And frankly we’re sick and tired of seeing people pay an arm and leg for a house, and then seeing them park the shittiest car on the driveway and filling their homes with the cheapest furniture from Ikea. Dude, if you’re going to pay over a $1million for a home, at least park a decent car on the driveway. Not your run of the mill toyota corolla or honda civic. What is this? Mira Mesa???? That’s the one thing I like about Carmel Valley, BMW’s are a plenty like Honda Accords.
Carmel Valley, where a “need” is a BMW or Porsche and a “want” is a Ferrari, and where 9 year olds have the latest iPhone’s and worry about if they are going to get a GoPro camera for christmas, and that’s if they did well at their swim meet in their private swim class, and soccer game in their private league, and instrument recital with their private instructor.
Pay no attention to those that rave about the commute convenience. It’s overrated. 10 minutes to Sorrento Valley during peak hours. Pff. Lie…It’s closer to 12 minutes…. Going to Rancho Bernardo. That will totally suck… 19 minutes during peak hours, limited by how many tickets you can budget into your yearly allowance on 56 and 15. Yeah, pay no attention to stop and go traffic in the opposite 56 west traffic inbound in the morning, I’m sure that’s just an anomality. Carlsbad? Sucks even more 22 minutes during peak morning time…Oh, just ignore the I-5 southbound nearly crawling to a stop around 8-8:30 in the morning….Again, commute times are overrated. Besides, if you live in Carmel Valley. What job? You work? Pffff…I thought anyone who is anything is semi-retired!
So yeah, GTFO and find a home elsewhere.
As some suggested, I’m sure El Cajon and Chula Vista are much better buys for the money. You might get shot once or twice, but with the money you save, you can buy a BMW X5 Protection with bullet resistant windows and light armor, as you transport your kid(s) to the private school 40-45 minutes out of the area everyday for the next 15 or so years. And think about how much money you will save!

Having resided in CV, I can understand how some who have not lived there might have the impression that CV residents might be unapproachable, but we never found that to be the case.
We enjoyed living there, because we found it to be an extension of the way my wife and I as well as our kids grew up–great family, great homes, educational opportunities, golf, tennis, music, etc., etc.–a lifestyle that existed long before there was a CV.
Interestingly, even with all of the positive elements young people are offered in that environment, our kids are amazed at how many of their peers haven’t achieved their goals after college, compared to those in past generations who were raised in much the same way. It does make you wonder why.
December 4, 2015 at 6:27 AM #791816The-ShovelerParticipantI think you missed the point BG
The point is there is growth and sprawl even in the bay area and its unlikely to stop or slow down.
And bedroom communities turn into Big cities an CA.
but I give up,
December 4, 2015 at 6:45 AM #791817scaredyclassicParticipant

Many of our relatives who have lived in the Bay Area for years can’t believe where people are willing to buy homes up there now.
It’s understandable that affordability is the driving factor, but if/when things slow down again, they might have some challenges getting rid of some of those outlier properties, and, in the meantime, I don’t think the lifestyle is really be what you might call optimum.
It’s just my opinion that life is too short not to live the life you want to live, where you want to live it. We’ve known quite a few people who have waited for “retirement,” and never made it to that point, or found their time was cut short later in life, so–to the OP–find something you like, and start enjoying it now.
That sound all good and all but then you have a few kids and your choices start to go out the window.
Reality sucks.
I just cannot understand the relationship between the length of a lifetime and living how you want to live. Seems like a shorter lifetime would give you less options. Aldo make you more broke, since less time to earn money. Also, kids.
We are not meant to get what we want. We are meant to fulfill our duty to G-d, nation and family.
Also yuhtey is screwed. He must submit to reality and realize that this situation is completely soulsucking, unreasonable and will eventually sick the life out of him and leave him just a husk of a man, btoke, tired and beaten.
This is your duty.

shhh. here’s a secret. i live in CV.
here are 3 examples of entitled baby boomer douchebaggery towards my family in CV:
“i can’t believe they are actually feeding their child macaroni and cheese” said an old pricey bitch just loud enough so that we could hear it from across our table as we were spooning in the #1 kids food ever in the history of time at a restaurant.
“i don’t think your son’s old enough to understand fashion photography” said an old humbug CV denizen passing by in the park as i was trying to take a photo of my own child for my own enjoyment using a speed light with a modifier on top to combat the harsh sun.
“…[creepily stares at us for 20 minutes without saying word]…” did a complete wierdo with his dog after walking up to the playground and sitting at a bench by himself while we played on the slides. GO ANYWHERE ELSE, LOOK AT YOUR PHONE OR WHATEVER, OR JUST SAY SOMETHING.
