Is that what you call “earning money” or “hard work”?
IMHO, it’s a sad day when the financial industry is considered the most important industry in our country.
I’d much rather see doctors, engineers, and other **productive** people earn the top salaries/incomes. Allocating financial resources is not that complicated. It’s only when we try to get “creative” with money that it becomes too complex for normal, intelligent people to handle these transactions. We cannot afford to have these people in control of our economy.
As to the whiner from AIG…many people work 12-14 hour days, often six or seven days a week. Many of them make minimum wage, and are trying to support their families on these wages. This AIG employee is hardly a sympathetic character.

CA Renter,
Salary dollar figure aside..It’s the principle of what Obama/Libby/Gibby did that is disturbing. And the only reason why this administration is getting away with this is because they are playing at the public outrage of the compensation of wall street employees and snowballing the principle of what they are getting away with doing.
Let’s put this in perspective. Let’s say you ahve someone at McDonalds, or an engineering firm, or a doctor that works for a hospital.
As part of condition of employment, your employer went into contract with you that we’ll pay you X to do work Y. You passed up other opportunities, other employers because of company X offered you that contract.
You fulfilled your compensation. The company paid you your compensation, and now it’s in your bank account.
Suddenly, the CEO, the Prez, the Democrat Congressmen, decides to say “Holly Shit, the public is pissed that we gave out those bonuses to begin with, well be better do something about that….I got an idea, let’s tax the fvck at those specific people we authorized a bonus to in the first place, and or let’s subject them to public ridicule, whether or not they were the ones responsible for the company mess to begin with”…. I don’t know, somehow i think if that happened to you or other people, you would think it’s completely unconstitutional.
Of course, i would say most people are more in shock as to how much these wall street folks make, and frankly have a bent angle “to get even”, and Obama and crew is doing a fine job feeding this fire. THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS BONUS MONTHS BEFORE, AND DIDN’T OBJECT TO IT.
If the american people want to show outage, take it out on Libby, and Geitner who authorized these bonuses to begin with and Obama for being a complete “I didn’t know shit” idiot.
Anything else is just a witchhunt to ridicule/mock/shame folks that earn more than average people, but nevertheless employees that go to work.
Side note, and not directly this at you), but: sorry, if you have to work 12-14hrs at McDonald’s as your only best job permanently, you did something really fvcked up in your life to not have done better, (unless (1) you were one of those immigrants that came over here with no other opportunity or (2) you have some handicap of some sort. If you are in (1) or (2), I’m sorry, I have compassion for you) However, if you aren’t category (1) or (2) people, don’t blame others who worked/studied/excelled more than you to get out of a shithole.
Also your statement of the mess “they created”. Again which “they” are you referring to? The “they” employees that were orginally part of the the group that got AIG into the mess, or the “they” employees that were part of a profitable arm of AIG that moved over to the troubled asset group to fix the mess after the orginal “they” employees that created the mess bailed??? There’s an important distinction.
The analogy in my field would be if my company hired me and paid me a huge bonus to fix a production system which a former employee took down in spite or deleted or completely trashed, and which there is public outrage at the service be completely down. While I’m fixing the damn system and problems that I didn’t create, the public finds out the company is paying me dearly to fix this problem, but nevertheless outraged as to why I am being paid so much to fix this mess that “we” created? And a Congressman saying, let’s tax the hell out of the him because the public thinks we’re paying him too much. Absurd. We’re definitely getting to a fascist state….or at least communism…
What’s disturbing is how far the this administration’s government is attempting to reach…and increasingly more disturbing how little people think this isn’t a big deal….Folks flipped out when Bush and crew started wire tapping americans and violated every thing related to privacy…How is this administration any different? (I’ll answer that, they are a lot better at covering up the government’s reach). Bush used 9/11 as a fear tactic to get americans to accept unquestionable things. Obama is using rage and preceived “wealth” as the unification strategy for the masses. We continue down this path, america is going to emerge as a bunch of sniffling self pitying sorry asses that won’t be able to compete in the global arena

Agree with you 100% on the Obama administration screwing things up in more ways than I can count. (BTW, I believe even The Breeze admitted to being disappointed about Obama’s picks for economic/financial posts.)
Also, agree that the guilty culprits have, in many cases, already made off with the cash, and the people trying to fix the mess now are not the ones who deserve the public shaming and punishment.
Where we probably disagree is that you believe most (?) of the wealthiest people **earned** their money, whereas I believe many simply have access to more power, and have the ability to direct where money goes (to them). Please note that I am **NOT** talking about doctors and engineers, etc.
