Financially Yes, Militarily No. This crisis will make US stronger as a nation, promote thrift, reduce debt, cut down waste, will bring back dignity to real labor. Economic crises are good for character building. Both for individuals and nations.

However, at this point, we might (as a nation) become fed up with the various sponsors of these terror acts and actually retaliate in a meaningful way. We do posses more WMD’s then anyone else, after all.

My take on this is that once the $ drops, we will be too busy fixing our own house and we won't be the world's policeman. With those entanglements severed, we won't be attractive to trouble makers. We may go back to the life between the World Wars.

And what if thats not the case anymore? This is the *big* prediction from Peter Schiff that actually has me worried (a little too bearish for me). He views American as a debt-laden caboose that is holding back the train that is the global economy. Once they cut it free they will soar forward while we retreat into irrelevance.
