ParticipantI don’t think it is an Asian thing. A house is an asset that can’t be taken away or destroyed as easily as cash or some promissory note and it can always feed a family as a rental.
Back in 2005 my parents just could not comprehend that I’m renting while I could afford to buy. They also don’t understand how 401k makes more sense than buying a rental property.
My parents are not Asian.
EDIT: And neither am I ๐
