Am I nuts?
It would be nuts to seriously consider certain areas without scouting them out on the ground first or better yet, having lived somewhere in the area first.
If you are trying to decide whether to relocate, make a visit and determine whether you could live in a place you could afford to buy at current prices. If so, I’d recommend that you could move to SD and rent for a year or two and will probably find even nicer places at the same price.

November 5, 2007 at 4:37 PM #96120bsrsharmaParticipantIt is not a good place & price is wrong too. If you want to be in Vista, try to buy something in 92081 (South Vista/Shadowridge area). It is closer to Carlsbad. Traffic is a mess on E. Vista way. 92084 is OK if you are looking for a rural style home and are not keen on schools. Anyway, this place should go below $200/sqft to even to start making sense.

November 5, 2007 at 5:26 PM #96117temeculaguyParticipantDitto what bsrsharma said, that particular house is within walking distance to a few square blocks of low income/high crime aging apartments (oak, bonair, montemar). On the map it looks close to some nicer streets such as Vista Grande and Warmlands but it doesn’t connect by road or foot so it is more a part of the barrio than the nicer customs on the hill, in person you would be able to see that. Having not been there for a few years, it looks like a fill in street in a rotton location. In Vista, choose Shadowridge if you have kids or get further out in the hills if you don’t. a good rule of thumb is that if you can’t succesfully walk the dog and avoid being shot at, it’s not worth 600k.

November 5, 2007 at 8:29 PM #96094DCRogersParticipantI do not think you are real: you are from Central Illinois (right?), and would “seriously consider” this house, at nearly twice what it would be worth in IL, sight unseen. You’re either trolling, or yes, nuts.
