For your own good please look at Obama a bit more and see what his views really are and where they could potentially bring us. Our Constitution is in grave danger and I hope that all you educated people just take the time to research these candidates.
WMDs in Iraq, U.S. soldiers will be greeted with roses, Abu Ghraib, no-bid contracts, vote for the $850 billion No Banker Left Behind Act or there will be an immediate economic meltdown, Obama is a secret Muslim, Obama is closely assoicated with terrorists, etc, etc.
The right has told so many lies and used so many baseless scare tactics that their credibility is completely shot. Take your scare tactics and shove them up your ass.
Welcome to why Obama will win the election; hate. Hate of Bush, hate of all the lies that were told, hate of where we are as a country, hatred of the idiots who hid behind their countries honor inorder to rape it, hate of the fact that in all reality we dont have a choice because we are unable to elevate ourselves above our own hatreds. How ironic that the first black president will win the election due to hate.
and no, he will not heal this hatred. It got him elected, and no good politician like Obama will “fix” that which got him elected. Obama’s policies, expeiences, or abilities are no better then McCains if not worse. I personally believe that any healing will have to come from the political middle, and I just dont see that happening with this new administration. Obama is ranked as the most liberal senator last year, how is that the middle?

October 19, 2008 at 11:52 PM #290016gandalfParticipantAFF, I’ll concede your point. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they.
Anyway, back to the discussion. I think there’s a real opportunity for a third party to emerge in this country right now. Look at the number of independents. Look at what’s happened to conservatives within the republican party. Look at the votes for Ron Paul.
The Gen-X crowd doesn’t buy into the whole left vs. right Vietnam zeitgeist. It’s a bunch of baby boomer bullshit to us. I’m not sure how something like that would get started but I’d wager there’s a 50/50 chance there’s a major new political party competing for power by 2020.
If I was still GOP, I’d be really, really concerned about the future of the party right now. Short of diebold-style vote-rigging and voter suppression, it’s going to be a wipeout in three weeks. And I don’t see how it gets any better given the cast of characters in charge of the GOP.
