“One is taking his own life and the other is taking the lives of his family and himself. … He talked himself into the second strategy, believing that was, in effect, the honorable thing to do.”
Honorable my arse. Dude, take your own life if you must but leave your family alone.

I was unemployed almost a year following the dotcom bust. Personally, I enjoyed the break.
What a piker!

October 7, 2008 at 9:20 AM #28283723109VCParticipanta coworker of mine did this a few years back. details of his personal life issues wer enever made public, but it was believed *something* was going on at home – either $$ problems, marital problems, molesting – I have NO idea what the trigger was..but dad lived with wife, three children and his mother. he killed them all, called 911, and then shot himself in the head while on the phone with police.
i worked with this man daily for several years and he was the nicest, most likeable, friendly, outgoing person you could imagine. highly paid, educated, in a six figure income job. he was about 45 yrs old or so.
when news spread that he and the family had been killed everyone assumed it was some kind of robbery gone bad – and when the real news came out that he had done it – people were in disbelief.
there are those “weird” neighbors who you think are the “type” who would do this – and there are people who you would NEVER expect to do this.
my friend was the latter. just goes to show you that no matter how well you think you know someone, you don’t REALLY know what goes on at home or what is really going on in their mind.
it is tragic that my friend, and this poor man get so screwed up in their mind that they think this is the way to solve their problems. truly sad.
