While I appreciate all the heartfelt marital advice, I was really just hoping to get the scuttlebut on this property (SD Realtor, Carlsbad Jim, et al.) I was just amazed at how quickly it went and I had that 2004 deja vu feeling — not fun.
And trust me, I am a bear on the housing market. I’ve been waiting for over four years now. I’ve made a calculated decision that if the right property comes along that works for my family, I’ll move on it. I fully understand that prices are likely to decline further, even in coastal North County. I think it’s great that many of you will wait it out and buy at the bottom — more power to you. It’s just not the path for me, at this point in my life.

April 25, 2008 at 3:44 PM #194592NotCrankyParticipantIt is not ncbuyer’s job to listen to Realtors it is the Realtor’s job to listen to ncbuyer. Best case scenario, a real meeting of the minds and a good experience.
I had clients call me yesterday. They are happy they can buy a nice house in Tierrasanta, Poway or Mt. Helix now for the same price they dumped their “starter” house in Encanto for two years ago. In any case the idea that every realtor is sitting around waiting to coerce people is not accurate to me. Try a little too hard to “educate” or win over maybe. There are enough potential buyers who ,right or wrong(I think it is neither), take the quality of life issue to mean some achieved wealth/discretionary income goes to a house now. Buyers susceptible to the usual baloney are gone. This is even reflected in the NAR’s propaganda more and more. Thank goodness on all accounts.
As far as the house in OP’s question goes, I hope the people who work up there regularly respond.April 25, 2008 at 3:44 PM #194624NotCrankyParticipantIt is not ncbuyer’s job to listen to Realtors it is the Realtor’s job to listen to ncbuyer. Math is not PadreBrian’s strong suit, I am afraid. πNope! I had it right. If you wait till the house comes down 100k (so minus 100k) you save 600 bucks a month on mortgage payments.
