ParticipantI wish that Congress critter had asked BB to define what he means by “meltdown”. One thing for sure, an extra Trillion $ will surely bring 1970’s style inflation. That may help those with large debts, but J6P will usually be the loser.

ParticipantIf we can afford to spend $1 trillion to $2 trillion (projected total expenditure from this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/19/washington/19cost.html – also the original Bush Administration extimate for the Iraq War? $50 to $60 billion) looking for WMD in Iraq, then surely we can spend $1 trillion saving our own a$$.
I still fail to comprehend the number of people who, even after studying the Great Depression in school, still seem to think no govt intervention is the right answer.

I am going to write this in capital letters so you hear this better. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU BELIEVE THEM NOW WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN LYING TO US EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!
Got it. Paulson and Bernancke have been deliberately lying to Americans for well over a year, with their “it’s contained” bs. Hell, take it back to 06 when Paulson said housing had reached bottom. At no point could they have actually believed this. Failing to act decisively and honestly, they let this continue to roll down the cliff.
