We lived in Rancho Penasquitos, and my son attended a Montessori kindergarten. When we enrolled him to the public elementary school in PQ, we were dissapointed to see that his first week math homework was only to count 3 frogs.
We then enrolled him to the Cambridge School, which is a Classical Christian school located in PQ, and we were very satisfied with his education there. He was challenged every day, and he loves to go to school!
We now moved to Carmel Valley, and it is very hard to make a decision to keep him at the Cambridge or to go to public school. But the Carmel Valley elementary school offers a very nice science lab, and other extracurricular activities that were not seem to be offered in the elementary school in PUSD.
The Cambridge School’s website is http://www.cambridgeclassical.org

March 10, 2011 at 1:04 PM #675703AnonymousGuestWhy don’t you move to La Jolla or Scripps Ranch? San Diego USD offers seminar program that pulls out GIFTed students into their own classes. I’ve heard that CV puts a lot of emphasis on math and science and it is hyper competitive. Many high school students do their homework till 1-2am every day.
One of my friends moved to CV told me that she regretted to move to CV. Her daughter now attends the seminar program offered by SDUSD.
Another friend in Scripps Ranch chose not to move because of the Seminar program.
