Catching up on HGTV programming. Today I watched the “Improvement Investments” episode of My House Is Worth [Squat]?. This couple paid $900k for their Mt. Helix home in 2006, and invested $285k in upgrades. Their “goal” price was $1.2million and the estimate came in at $1.125mil. They were so disappointed! But probably not as disappointed as when they sold their house for $850k in March.
That’s the thing that bugs me abut HGTV. They film programs from MANY years ago and just keep re-running them year after year not putting any disclosure when it was filmed. I did a show with them back in 2005 and they still re-run it to this day over and over several times a year.
The producer told me for whatever reason the ratings were high on it so they will probably keep rerunning for eternity even though the prices aren’t accurate. Oh well…that’s reality TV for you! Ha, ha.
