No way the Dems will cut these jobs permanently, I doubt most of the lay offs will even happen. They are way too beholden to the unions to allow this.
If you live in CA prepare to pay much, much more in taxes over the next 2 yrs. They are talking about taxing our taxes!!! WTF?????
We can rest easy though knowing that the marsh mouse in SF is being protected to the tune of 30 million. Thanks Pelosie, I’ll sleep better at night.February 17, 2009 at 4:28 PM #348505rnenParticipantNo way the Dems will cut these jobs permanently, I doubt most of the lay offs will even happen. It is time for the Unions to bend over and take one for the team…every single one of them. We are not living in the 1940’s and you can’t pay people $100,000 a year for sitting behind a desk at the DMV and saying next and performing duties that a nine year old could perform.
Besides, most of this stuff can be automated over the internet to rid us of brick and mortar expense.
I see city workers holding a stop and slow sign all day long making 80K with full benefits? Are you out of your mind? Time for a reality check..grab your nearest tube of vaseline and breath out long deep breaths….and repeat after me….take one for the team..I am taking one for the team.

February 17, 2009 at 4:43 PM #348212DWCAPParticipantI dont think cutting school days will do much good. Schools suck enough as is. Id be more interested in cutting back on some of the extra stuff schools engage in that isnt really necessary. Field trips and such that really are excuses to not have to do anything for a day.
I am sure there is fat in there, it just depends on your definition of fat.I would be alot more interested in finding out that it doesnt take 6 months to layoff a state employee. Start the process, fine, but it should take two weeks or so, maybe a month, but not 5-6 months. They will prob spend more money trying to layoff people than they would save from laying them off, what with all the consultants they would have to hire and all.
