I think the Fed govt will be taking this opportunity to employ more of the population. They can still create money. States are in trouble. Cant say how long this will go on, but I bet we see it unfold for the next couple of years.
During the Depression taxes and tarrifs were raised despite the economic climate. Politicians dont get it or dont want to get it.

It is time for the Unions to bend over and take one for the team…every single one of them. We are not living in the 1940’s and you can’t pay people $100,000 a year for sitting behind a desk at the DMV and saying next and performing duties that a nine year old could perform.
Besides, most of this stuff can be automated over the internet to rid us of brick and mortar expense.
I see city workers holding a stop and slow sign all day long making 80K with full benefits? Are you out of your mind? Time for a reality check..grab your nearest tube of vaseline and breath out long deep breaths….and repeat after me….take one for the team..I am taking one for the team.

The layoff notices are only being sent to employees of General Fund departments. DMV, CalTrans, CHP are all special funded. So the “laid off” General Fund employees will get sent to these places to fill vacancies.
In my department, everyone with less than 3.5 years of service is getting a notice.
