You’re right, a politician with a deflationary platform will never be re-elected.
And as a former govt worker who’s married to a govt worker, I’m 100% in favor of less govt spending. We did just fine in the mid-90s; there is no reason we can’t go back to those levels.
As for whether or not delflation would solve our problems, I think it would. Our current problems are a result of too much leverage and the resulting elevated prices. Deflation would solve those problems very effectively.
