You aren’t disagreeing – a mid-grade 100% agave tequila is a good option. Just no need to go top-shelf, that’s all I’m saying.
The Cuervo I referred to was the mix. It suffices. Sure lime juice is awesome, but this is a daily drinker, which avoids the hassle of squeezing limes, making syrup, and spending lots of money.
You can make a huge pitcher of it in a few minutes and pull it out every day for a week or two, using cracked ice from the fridge. Simple, cheap, and very drinkable.
One of my favorite mid-grade tequilas is Hornitos, but I don’t mind the “swill” for a true daily drinker.
Heradurra Resposado is my fave for shooting.
I find people who go for big red wines prefer the tartness of Contreau. I definitely like the foo-foo sweetness of the triple sec. It hides the harshness of swill better than anything.
