When I bought my house for 270k about 8 years ago I was making about 100k. I think I was reasonably conservative, not to mention that I had 30k as a down payment.
I happen to be a gray collar worker with (2) Engineering degrees.
As time went on I began to realize that I probably don’t really ‘fit’ into my community which is primarily a working class neighborhood – particularly since many (I suspect) were exaggerating their income to buy even into my lower end community.
A clash of cultures from my perspective.
Fortunately I have had more staying power since most who moved in over the last 6 years or so are gone.
