Were these gangs actually started up in Temecula or did their “members” migrate over from other cities/counties when their families relocated??
If the members “migrated” one-by-one when their families moved, this is a sign that the property prices are/were so low in Temecula that it may have attracted buyers from Downey, Norwalk, Watts, Vernon (LA Co.), and Shelltown, Mt. Hope, Southcrest and Encanto areas of SD and Oceanside, for example. Families who sold in these areas during boom times saw a way to get out and move to a far-flung community they could afford in effort to get their kids away from gangster-peers. Actually, this is what happened in parts of Las Vegas between ’95 and the early 2000’s. Most of the “gangsters'” families migrated there from LA County is search of housing prices comparable to what they sold for and their kids ended up infiltrating some LV neighborhoods with their gang culture.
I don’t think some of the *newer* areas in the inland empire have been able to “hold their own” over the years without a lot of influx from out of county. Due to massive overbuilding, the economy there ended up depending on continual in-migration.
