We have kids, but it helps that we both have flex hours. I get up at the butt crack of dawn, my wife gets to sleep in but comes home later, so at least one parent is with the kids for 6 waking hours/weekday. The savings over three years will enable us to buy a 15-minute commute and a second income property.
On a bad day (rain) I’m in the car 2.5 hours. Compared to that, it will be like Christmas every day of the year…
