Way to go North County Native… I am doing the same as you – and have made sacrifices to stay home as well, but it pays off in the end. However, I would never criticize a woman who works (not that you did 0 criticize – I dont remember reading anything like that at all) – they know they are making sacrifices in order to do so. I like having female doctors, lawyers, and businesswomen around when I need one. We all make our choices.
That said, for me, staying in San Diego meant an even bigger sacrifice than we were willing to make, renting yet another semi-dumpy home in Coronado (actually our last home there was pretty nice, but all the ones before it were many layers deep in ant spray, flaking leaded paint, and mold).
myito- While it is true that real estate cycles, the thing people are here discussing is that this time the cycle is not ‘normal’ at all, and is not following any ‘normal curve’ (did you read the Professor’s primer?).
So, when someone like you comes here talking about buying now, we share our ‘opinion’ that you not only have paid too much, but will be stuck with the taxes, etc at that level for years. Of course we may be wrong, but that is what this site is all about… why would you expect us NOT to be biased?
