I’m thinking a person should count on a minimumbof 235/mo pool budget. Probably more. Pool’s kind if expensive. I can better understand why it can be a liability in selling s house having owned one under a year. It’s also a thingvthat constantly needs attention.
I agree that this number is in the ballpark. Even if you have a “solar cover” over an in-ground spa, it will cost about $80 minimum per month extra in utils to heat it to 103 deg about 8x per month for 5-6 mos year.
About 15 yrs ago, I went to a friend’s party who heated their just-built pool for <12 hours just for the party (didn't have solar panels). It cost them $235 extra on their utility bill just for the party! Rates have risen exponentially since then.
Having had pool/spas in the past, I can tell you that it is MUCH cheaper to belong to the Y, even for a whole family’s monthly membership! And that includes their circuit training and all their classes, as well!!
