I’ve seen this, too, and also laugh at the chutzpah of these sellers when they list their homes.

I think scaredy is talking about houses that sold during the bubble, and have had their assessments reduced. I’m assuming they specifically asked for the reductions, because they seem larger than what the assessor is reducing nearby assessments by.
IOW, these sellers have likely gone to the assessor with lowball comps, but when they list, all of a sudden they unearth higher comps to justify their prices — though many times, you can’t even find a high comp to justify anything near what they’re asking for.
